Seamer Setup Camera
Set up your seamers quickly, solve seam issues and minimize downtime
Imagine a tool that takes the guesswork out of seamer setup, improves seam quality and consistency, increases seamer uptime and makes startup much faster than previously possible. Our Seamer Setup Camera is all this and more!
As a craft brewer, you want to stay focused on brewing the best beer possible and delivering that quality to your customers when they pop open the can. Accurate seamer setup is critical for the beer to stay fresh over time.
If you’re a mobile canner, you want to be up and running as fast as possible and get the best seam you can for your customer’s cans.
Often, breweries make due with just meeting the seam specifications, often coming dangerously close to the specs and relying on the canning machinery to hold these specs throughout the run. This approach doesn’t take in to account slight changes in incoming materials, like end plate thickness, can flange, can height and the seamer’s own tolerances. Over time, as the machinery loosens up, hard to detect issues like microleaks can occur.
The Seamer Setup Camera is able to not only quickly and accurately set up the seamer and fix issues that come up from time to time, it makes sure that the seamer performs consistently and at it’s target specifications. This means that seamer will run better, and require adjustments less often and less downtime! Not only are you saving time – you are also reducing unplanned stops.
Today, most companies use feeler gauges or wire gauges to try and determine if there is enough distance between the roll and chuck. Of course, this is an inaccurate and difficult procedure even in the hands of experienced seamer mechanics. Similarly inaccurate methods are used for adjusting roll height off the chuck. More often than not, rolls need to be readjusted after the first seam check and as the seamer warms up. In some cases, problems with the seam are often solved by tightening the 2nd operation, whereas the real solution could be that the 1st operation should actually be tightened or even loosened!

The Seamer Setup Camera takes a completely different approach to the problem. Instead of focusing on checking seams after the double seam is already complete, the camera helps optimize the can seaming process by going right to the source – the seamer itself!
Today, the Seamer Setup Camera is compatible with all high speed canning systems, like Angelus and Ferrum and craft canning systems like Cask, Twin Monkeys, CODI, Twin Monkeys and more. These seamers show clear and dramatic performance improvements using this tool, whether it is used at a permanent site or in mobile canning.
Whereas most settings on the double seamer, such as lifter pressure and height are relatively easy to adjust and control, the roll to chuck relationship is difficult. Until today, seamer mechanics used feeler gauges, but the process was long and very inaccurate – resulting in bad and inconsistent seams, seamers going out of specs quickly and various problems that could not be easily traced.
The Seamer Setup Camera solves all of these problems by offering an easy solution to seamer setup and adjustment.
The Seamer Setup Camera provides clear and immediate benefits to can makers and canneries of any size:
